Additional information aboutInfluencing Style Clock Facilitator's Guide

This instructor-led workshop for managers and other professionals uses experiential learning and practice to enable managers and supervisors to lead and communicate collaboratively with more effectiveness and less reliance on purely autocratic methods.

The Facilitator's Guide reviews several views on influencing styles/skills prior to consolidating the prior knowledge/research into training on Influence Style Clock predispositions. Trainers will teach participants to:

  • Motivate others by representing a desired course of action with more compelling logic, feelings, energy, and commitment.
  • Be more effective change agents by understanding and using the influencing style that complements a given change initiative.
  • Understand their own communication/influencing style predisposition so they can use it as a strength and at the same time fill in the gaps with other influence styles to complete their ability to influence effectively.

This workshop uses a psychometric questionnaire-- The Influence Style Clock assessment (either paper or online, purchased separately) to identify participants style preferences and identify their influencing strengths, blind-spots, and development opportunities.

The assessment describes the influencing style type, or mix of types, that each individual is predisposed to. This starting point is ideal for explaining the strengths, characteristics, situational disadvantages, and optimal uses of each style type.

Key Benefits

  • Managers that grasp the difference between influencing and position power open a new door to success as motivative, participatory, team builders.
  • By being able to recognize the influencing style of others, any professional can work with that person more effectively “and more persuasively”.
  • Learning and applying influencing styles enables managers to frame problems and solutions (change) in terms that are congruent with the frame of reference of their co-worker or employee.
  • Effective influencing lowers conflict, promotes team morale, and focuses any group on their common goals and challenges.
