Module 1: Chemistry Basics

The Standard Deviants continue their examination of the inner structure of the atom. Find out the role electrons play when atoms join for a lasting partnership. Discover the ins and outs of alkanes, including the traits that make them different from other organic compounds.

Module 4: Butanes
Find out about the most common variations of butane, like isobutane, butyl and sec-butyl. Then the Standard Deviants look at the fabulous foursome: the four different types of carbons! We'll also learn more about complex alkanes.

Module 5: Carbon Rings
The Standard Deviants start by playing the name game with molecules. Next, play a game of ring-around-the-rosy with some carbons connected in a ring. Then: alkane, alsaw, alconquered.

Module 6: Cycloalkanes
We'll start off with cycloalkanes, a group of ringed molecules. Then, The Standard Deviants will teach you two important cycloalkane conformations, the boat and chair. But don't get too comfortable, we'll also cover functional groups, which add variety to organic molecules.

Module 7: Addition Reactions
Get a more in-depth look at the exciting world of a chemical reactions. Bonds are broken. Electrons are shared. Alliances are formed. Who gains from a chemical reaction? Who gets hurt? Then, bring along a sketch pad, because the Standard Deviants will go over reaction energy diagrams.

Module 8: Alkenes
Get keen on alkenes. The Standard Deviants continue their step-by-step process of how to name an alkene. Then, they're off to examine the molecular structure of this gang of rowdy molecules.

Module 9: Reaction Energy Diagrams
The Standard Deviants examine some rules and postulates that will help you solve reaction energy diagrams. First on the list: Markovnikov's rule. Then we'll take a peek at Hammond's postulate, which will help you with endothermic reactions.

Module 10: Carbocation
The Standard Deviants find out why molecules choose one carbocation over the other. Do they take the path of least resistance, or the road less traveled? After that, the Standard Deviants cover hydration reactions. Hydration reactions produce a neutral alcohol. How do they do it?

Module 11: Electrophilic Reactions I
The Standard Deviants delve into the private lives of a few of your favorite electrophilic addition reactions. Today's guest reactions are hydration and halogen addition.

Module 12: Halohydrin Formation Reactions
First, the Standard Deviants take you through a halohydrin formation reaction. Halo-what's-in? Don't worry, the Standard Deviants provide detailed, step-by-step explanations.

Module 13: Electrophilic Reactions II
The Standard Deviants cover a few of your favorite electrophilic addition reactions, including hydroboration oxidation, hydrogenation and hydroxylation. The Standard Deviants provide detailed walk-throughs of each reaction we cover.

Module 14: Electrophilic Reactions III
The Standard Deviants finish covering the last two electrophilic addition reactions, ozonolysis and oxidative cleavage.
